Emily Lauer is Vice President of PR and Communications at Destination Cleveland, the destination marketing and management organization for Greater Cleveland. In addition to leading the organization’s PR team, Emily oversees the insights and analytics work and serves on the leadership team.

Emily joined DC in July 2015 to develop and oversee team implementation of PR strategies that help change perceptions and improve the narrative of Cleveland among potential visitors, meeting planners and residents. Her counsel to senior leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic helped to strengthen the organization’s community relationships while her focus on internal communications contributed to team morale and engagement when working in a virtual-only environment.

She led the PRSA Silver Anvil Award-winning PR efforts for the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee for the Republican National Convention and has also directed PR efforts for Cleveland’s hosting of the 2019 MLB All-Star Game, 2021 NFL Draft and the 2022 NBA All-Star Game.

Prior to her time in travel and tourism, Emily spent 18 years at two integrated marketing and PR agencies in Cleveland. Her client work has been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America with both Bronze and Silver Anvil awards. She is Accredited in Public Relations by UAB.

A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Emily is a native Clevelander. When not globetrotting in her spare time, she enjoys exploring Cleveland’s greenspaces and catching live music at one of Cleveland’s many independently owned venues.
