Chris Chiames is chief communications officer for Miami-based Carnival Cruise Line, which sails more guests than any major cruise line in the world. Chris joined Carnival in 2018 and previously held senior communications roles across travel, including American Airlines, US Airways, Orbitz and Sabre. He also led the travel and tourism public affairs practice at Burson-Marsteller (now Burson) during the 9/11 terrorist attacks and subsequent financial crisis. During the course of his career he has managed numerous crisis communications tasks, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the 9/11 terrorist attacks, major airline accidents and labor strikes, corporate financial restructurings, mergers and transactions, and cybersecurity attacks.

Chris holds a B.A. in journalism from California State University, Fresno, an M.A. in journalism from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is a frequent guest speaker to professional and academic audiences on corporate reputation and crisis communications and sits on the advisory board for the University of Florida Department of Public Relations. He and his teams have been recognized by the Public Relations Society of America and PR Daily, among others, and he is a member of the Arthur Page Society for senior communications executives.
