Nate Kelley is an economist and financial analyst with more than 15 years’ experience who now serves as the San Diego Tourism Authority’s Director of Research. His career began as a municipal bond trader in New York in the months leading up to the Great Financial Crisis. The Financial Crisis and ensuing recession left an indelible mark, leading to him to obtain a degree in Economics. Following that, Nate worked as an Economist at Moody’s where he led research on small-business credit, labor markets, and U.S. consumer trends before taking positions at JPMorgan and then UBS, where he headed up the U.S. scenario design efforts used for the bank’s mandated stress-testing program. After more than a decade of working in Finance in New York City, he sought out the sunnier climes of San Diego where he initially took the role of Senior Research Manager at the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. before ultimately landing at the region’s Tourism Authority.
