Doug is the Senior Vice President – Chief Marketing & Brand Officer of Wawa, a chain of more than 1,100 convenience stores located in thirteen states in the Mid-Atlantic regions, Southeast regions, Midwest Regions and Washington, DC. Wawa is a family and associate-owned, privately held company with more than 50,000 Wawa associates serving almost 2 million customers every day. Wawa ranks 21st on Forbes’ annual ranking of America’s Largest Private Companies, among the top ten largest Employee Stock Ownership Plans in the country in terms of participants in 2025.
The company began in the early 1800’s in New Jersey with an iron foundry and a cotton and textile mill and migrated to Pennsylvania with the opening of a dairy plant in 1902. Wawa’s original dairy was built on land located in a Delaware County, Pennsylvania near a train station called “Wawa,” As home delivery of dairy declined and supermarkets became more abundant in the early 1960’s, the first Wawa convenience opened in Folsom, PA on April 16, 1964.
Doug joined Wawa in 2025 as the Senior Vice President – Chief Marketing & Brand Officer and is responsible for developing and executing Wawa’s marketing and branding strategy to drive customer engagement and sales growth. He currently leads all aspects of brand positioning, advertising, customer insights, customer experience, store design and loyalty to ensure consistency and competitiveness in the market. Prior to joining Wawa, Doug spent 20 years at General Mills in various roles of increasing accountability in brand management and marketing. Ultimately, he was the Chief Marketing Officer where he was responsible for brand building strategy and capabilities across an iconic house of brands.
Doug holds a BS in Economics from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.
