Joe Heller is the Chief Marketing Officer for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB), the official tourism promotion agency for the City of Philadelphia, and the primary sales and marketing agency for the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Since joining in 2019, he has shaped Philadelphia’s positioning as a top destination for meetings, conventions, sporting events and international leisure travel. Heller leads a team of 17 spanning marketing, communications, content, research, and partnerships, including overseeing the bureau’s official membership program that engages with more than 700 local and regional members.
Before joining the PHLCVB, Heller served as Vice President of Brand Strategy and Creative Content for the Philadelphia Flyers, where he led the creation of the team’s mascot, Gritty, a project that earned widespread acclaim and numerous awards, including being named the Best Marketing Campaign in the NHL. He also held the role of Vice President of Marketing & Communications during his nine seasons with the club. His prior roles include Director of Marketing and Communications at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Communications Manager for two NASCAR facilities, Dover Motor Speedway and Nashville Superspeedway. Heller, a Philadelphia native and Temple University graduate, was recognized as a “40 Under 40” honoree by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2022.
