Peggy Williams-Smith

Peggy Williams-Smith, a Milwaukee native and hospitality industry veteran, became VISIT Milwaukee’s first female president and CEO in 2019. She has led a major brand refresh—the organization’s first in over 20 years—while driving dynamic marketing campaigns that boost economic impact and elevate Milwaukee’s national profile. Her emphasis on strategic partnerships has strengthened local connections and built a nimble, responsive team.

Williams-Smith has promoted Milwaukee on a national stage, from Top Chef to securing and hosting the 2024 Republican National Convention to bringing the Michelin Guide to Milwaukee. Her leadership has delivered consistent year-over-year economic growth for the region.

Before VISIT Milwaukee, she spent more than 22 years with Marcus Hotels & Resorts. A dedicated mentor, she supports charitable causes through board service and has received multiple honors, including Milwaukee Business Journal Women of Influence (2017), Tempo Mentor Award (2021), and Executive of the Year (2022).
